New Delhi, Feb 22: The late Pandit Deendayal Upadahyaya was in real sense a saint in politics, observed senior Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Indresh Kumar at a book releasing function.

He was releasing a book ‘Siyasat ke Sant’ written by Gulrez Sheikh at a program held at the auditorium of Deendayal Research Institute here recently. The function was attended by many dignataries including BJP Vice-President Prabhat Jha, Senior BJP leader Mahesh Chandra Sharma, noted journalist Padmashri Muzaffar Hussein, Bina Barla, Girish Juyal and others.

Describing Deendayal Upadhayaya as saintly personality in the contemporary Indian politics Indresh Kumar said that the book “Siyasat ke Sant” throws light on the life of this great leader who gave the philosophy of ‘Integral Humanism’ to the humanity.

Deendayal presented an example of how hardships can be surmounted to achieve the goals of life, Indresh Kumar said adding that Deendayal considered all Indians as his own brothers and sisters despite political and ideological differences. He opposed the ideologies but not the followers of those ideologies.

Emulating his example we should also spread love and brotherhood in the society avoiding the political and religious strategies to divide the society for votes and power. He said that India is the only country in the world that has multiple names and we should not fell prey to mischievous propaganda of vested interests to divide us in these names.

Dwelling on the names of India starting from Aryawart, Sanatan, Bharat, Hindustanm India and many others, Indresh Kumar said that this multiplicity of names points not at the religious but our cultural and national identity. All citizens of India are Hindu by this national and cultural identity irrespective of his religion, he added.

Invoking Deendayal Upadhyaya who used to say “a man should be known not by his clothes but by his character, he appealed all to apply this principle in their lives.

Prabhat Jha in his address said that this book throws light on the life of Pt. Deendayal Upadhyaya. Mahesh Chandra Sharma said that he has written the biography of Pt Deendayal Upadhyaya. He recalled how Deendayal had started from a scratch to rose to such heights in political and public life of the nation so that each one started recognizing his worth.

Gulrez Sheikh, the author of the book, said that this book is dedicated to the martyrs of freedom struggle of Goa as well as his parents.

The program was attended by many activists of Muslim Rashtriya Manch of which Indresh Kumar is a patron.
