Assam: Newest political party 'Assam Gana Mukti Sangram' demands special status for the state

Guwahati, March 25: The newest political party of Assam Gana Mukti Sangram, has demanded special status for Assam under Article 371 (A) of the Constitution.

In its first press statement, the new party further demands Scheduled Tribe status for six ethnic communities Moran, Muttack, Ahom, Chutiya, Tea Communities and Koch-Rajbongshis which was denied by the Centre recent, news agency GPlus reported. 

About 'Assam Gana Mukti Sangram':         

Gana Mukti Sangram Asom is a regional Indian political party of Assam, founded on 20 March 2015, at Maran, Assam.

This was announced by activist Akhil Gogoi after a speech by Gandhian leader Anna Hazare at the 4th 2-yearly conference of Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS). "

The party aims at changing the capitalist system of India" said Gogoi.

The party leader Akhil Gogoi said that these two provisions are vital for safeguarding the political future of the people of the Assam. He also said that Schedule caste status is required to uplifting the Koch-Rajbongshi, Tai Ahom, Moran, Muttock, Chutia and tea tribe communities.
