Pune, Jan 1: With just 48 hours to go, the stage is set for the year’s mega event “Shiv Shakti Sangam’ to be held here at Marunji village adjoining Pune’s IT hub at Hinjwadi on January 3 in which over one lakh swayamsevaks in uniform are expected to participate from the seven districts of Western Maharashtra area.

Preparations for this historic congregation are near completion, informed the RSS officials who addressed a press conference here on December 31.

According to Vinayak Thorat, Karyavah of Western Maharashtra Prant, Nanasaheb Jadhav, Prant Sanghchalak, Dilip Kshirsagar, Prant Prachar Pramukh and Kailash Sontakke, General Managere of Shav Shakti Sangam the preparations were going on since last six months and now they are almost complete to host the mega event on January 3.

The location of the camp is at the tri-junction of Nere, Jambhe and Marunji villages. The participants are expected to reach the venue by 12 noon on the appointed day. The citizens are told to reach for the program by 3.30 pm. The program will be over by 6.30 on Sunday.

The entry to this event by registration and till the closure of the registration on December 15 midnight 158,778 swayamsevaks have registered themselves for the event from Pune Mahanagar, Pune district, Nasik, Nagar, Kolhapur, Sholapur, Satara and Sangli districts.

It may be mentioned that in 1983 the first massive camp was held at Taljai near Pune in which 35000 swayamsevaks had participated from entire Maharshtra excluding Vidarbha. The January 3 camp will be three times bigger in strength as compared to Taljai shivir as 44381 swayamsevaks have enrolled themselves from Pune city alone.

Sarsanghchalak Dr Mohanrao Bhagwat, will address the swayamsevkas gathered on this occasion. Sarkaryavah Bhayya Joshi and other Sangh adhikaris will be attending the program. The program will have stringent security arrangements and the roads for volunteers coming from various locations have been earmarked to avoid traffic jam.

Environment protection and conservation have been given utmost consideration in the planning of the event. The measures in this regard include using beetle-nut leaves for dishes, pits for sewage management etc. More than 20 organizations have contributed to the successful organization of the event and they have provided excellent quality services for it. As such, the executive of Western Maharashtra Prant RSS and the organizing committee have appealed to all citizens to take part in this program.

In a first, the program will have the presence of foreign media as the overseas media outlets had requested for the coverage and for the permission to remain present. They will be permitted to cover the event which is unprecedented. This shows that even foreign media is taking note of the program as well as RSS’ work.

Various dignitaries who have registered for the participation include Maharashtra Bhushan Babasaheb Purandare, veteran author D. M. Mirasdar, grand grandsons of Mahatma Phule Chandrashekhar, Nitin and Datta Phule, descendant of Hambirrao Mohite of Satara Jayajirao Mohite, industrialist from Sangamner Sanjay Malpani, former state president of Patit Pavan Saghatana Sopanrao (S.Z.) Deshmukh etc. Also, Lakshman Dinkar, a resident of Padmavati, has also registered for participation with full uniform at the age of 102 years.
