Bhopal,Oct 14 : Praising the armed formed for recent successful surgical strikes in POK Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that, our brave army men believes in action not in empty talks.
Speaking at inaugural function of newly-built war memorial — Shaurya Samarak — at Lal Pared ground Modi said, “It is my privilege that I have the opportunity to pay my tributes to our brave soldiers here on this historic day,” He also paid his tributes to brave soldiers on this historic day.
“When we talk about our soldiers, it is mostly about their uniform, their valour but we must also see them as an example of humanity,” he added. He appreciated the armed forces and Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar for taking courageous steps after Uri attack.
Taking jibe on critics and opposition over the politicisation of national security Modi said, “When I said our army does not believe in speaking, critics would say Modi is sleeping, is doing nothing. Like our Army doesn’t say but displays its valour, similarly our Defence Minister also doesn’t speak.”
He urged people to respect and applaud the security forces whenever they see them. “In some countries, whenever people see jawans at airports or railway stations, they stand up and applause, we should also adopt this,” he added.
Acknowledging the efforts of armed forces during Kashmir floods Modi said, “During floods in Srinagar, army men extended their help for the rescue and relief operation in the area. It is the call of humanity that inspires our armed forces when they’re helping people during natural disasters. Nothing else matters. When we think of armed forces, we remember their bravery and also their role during a natural disaster,”
PM Modi noted how in times of crisis, Indian Army rescued people belonging to several other nations. “It is the call of humanity that inspires our armed forces when they are helping people during natural disasters. It was our soldiers who played a key role in rescuing people from Yemen. Those rescued were not only Indians but also from other nations”, he added.
Prime Minister Modi said that India was one of the biggest contributors to the UN peacekeeping forces. “Several soldiers from India fought and were martyred during the two World Wars”, he said.
Taking pot shot on congress laid UPA government on the issue of to One Rank One Pension, he said, “Previous governments had made empty promises on OROP but when we came to power we fulfilled our promise and implemented it.”
