Mirzapur, October 15: Olympics bronze medalist Sakshi Malik on Friday said that government should provide more facilities and support to woman wrestlers to sharpen their talents. Sakshi inaugurated the national wresting tournament in Mirzapur where he stressed the importance of women empowerment in sports.
She said that girls are very talented in the field of sports but due to lack of facilities they are not able to show outstanding performances. Girls can perform better than boys if given proper support.The Wresting event is organized by Satyanarayan Sports Academy and the winner of men and women event will win a cash price of Rs. 1.5 Lakh and Rs. 1 Lakh.
Encouraging the women participants, she said that they can perform outstandingly in sports. In a brief chat with reporters, she said that it was her first stint in Rio Olympic, and now she is trying to overcome the shortcomings with the help of her coach.
The Wresting event is organized by Satyanarayan Sports Academy and the winner of men and women event will win a cash price of Rs. 1.5 Lakh and Rs. 1 Lakh. Malik made a proud moment of India at the recent Rio Olympics after winning the Bronze medal at Brazil. She became the first and only Indian women to win a medal at Olympics in Wresting.
