Kaziranga, Oct 17: Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Nagaland Chief Minister TR Zeliang have adopted the comprehensive policy to resolve the outstanding issue of Border Dispute between the two states.

Both the states have agreed to share the important inputs regarding the border dispute. Assam and Nagaland will adopt mutually reciprocating approach, constant dialogue & people to people contact for solving all outstanding issues between the two states.

The  two state governments would give more emphasis on the areas like intelligence sharing on extremist activities, crime control, and NRC updation. The decision was jointly taken by Chief Ministers of both the states during a meeting at Kaziranga

“Maintaining peace & harmony along with friendly relations among people living in Assam-Nagaland border is high priority for both the State Government,” tweeted Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal after the meeting.

Sonowal informed that the State Government has decided to organise sports & cultural events in border districts which will promote friendship between two states.

Assam Chief Minister thanked TR Zeliang for offering his Government’s full support in the campaign against Rhino poaching & illegal encroachment in Kaziranga. Both the Chief Ministers has issued a joint statement after the meeting.

On this occasion several ministers, Parliamentary Secretaries, Chief Secretary, DGPs from both the states have participated in the meeting. After the meeting Assam Home Commissioner LS Changsan Changsan said that in coming days, such meetings are also expected to be held with other states of the north east. Both the Chief Ministers will also issue a joint statement after the meeting.
