New Delhi, Oct 18 : Calling the petition as Unnecessary harassment to Union Minister Smriti Irani, Patiala House Court has dismissed the fake degree case which was filed against Union Minister Smriti Irani.
The petitioner alleged that, Irani had provided bogus information regarding her educational qualifications in her affidavit to the Election Commission of India.
The Delhi court has refused to summon Irani in the case, citing the delay of 11-year for lodging the complaint. The controversy was irrupted during the 2014 after the case was filed by Ahmer Khan, who accused Smriti Irani for irregularity in her educational details in the affidavit submitted to election commission for 2004 and 2014 Lok Sabha elections.
Dismissing the case Metropolitan Magistrate Harvinder Singh said, "Complainant may not have filed it if she was not a central minister. Original evidence has already been lost due to passage of years, secondary evidence won't be enough for court,"
