Mandi, October 18: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday addressed ‘Parivartan rally’ at Mandi in Himachal Pradesh where he hailed the Indian army saying that whole nation is taking about the bravery of Indian Army. “The world is now talking about our Army. We used to hear about similar feats of the Israeli army. But now after the surgical strikes everyone knows Indian Army is no less," PM Modi said.
Modi hailed the Mandi’s army background profession and said that Mandi is the land of the brave and that every family in the district has a member in the Army. Calling Mandi a mini-Kashi as Kashi is the old name of Varanasi, which is represented by Modi in Lok Sabha. Modi said, “Mandi is a ‘mini-Kashi’ and I am happy to bow my head at a land which is both a ‘devbhoomi’ and a ‘veerbhumi’.
Pointing out the execution of long demand of OROP scheme, he said “the BJP's promise of One Rank One Pension (OROP) has been fulfilled by our government. The One Rank One Pension was hanging for 40 years, and it is our government which completed that work. Not only soldiers but their families bless me," he said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also dedicated three hydro-electric projects to the state. All the three power projects -- Koldam HEP (4x200 MW) ofNTPC, Parbati HEP Stage-III (4x130 MW) of NHPC and Rampur HEP (6x68.67 MW) of SJVN -- are equipped with generating equipment supplied and commissioned by Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), state-owned firm.
BHEL has a vast experience in hydro-electric projects having contracted more than 500 hydro generating sets with a cumulative capacity of more than 29,000 MW of various ratings in India and abroad. The company is executing HEPs of around 3,300 MW in the country, which are at various stages of implementation, in addition to major hydropower projects in DR Congo and Bhutan.
