Bambolim, Oct 5: BRICS Nations have transcended the traditional areas of interaction and opened a new vista in the field of sports said Union Minister of State Youth Affairs and Sports Vijay Goel.  

Inaugurating the tournament he said, it is an honour for India to host the inaugural BRICS U-17 Football Tournament. India is looking towards a growth of a sporting culture in the country he added.

He further added that, BRICS U-17 football tournament will definitely promote bonhomie amongst the participants and will create a rapport with the audience.

"Football will play a crucial role in bringing the BRICS countries together. Goa is the best place for the tournament as it shows a close connection in the heart of people," he said.

In the very first match , Brazil scored once in each half to beat China 2-0 . Brazil dominated the match with quick passes and scored through Victor Gabriel M de Oliveira (2nd minute) and Vitor Eduardo da Silva Matos (65th).

Final of the tournament will played on 15th October, 2016 at Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium Fatorda. The tournament is free to all. 

On this occasion Chief Minister of Goa Laxmikant Parsekar, Sports Minister of Haryana Anil Vij, Sports Minister of Gujrat, Rajendra Trivedi, Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi Manish Sisodia, Sports Minister of Sikkim Ram Bahadur Subba, Sports Minister of Mizoram Zodintluanga were also present.
