Islamabad, October 5: Pakistani opposition leader Imran Khan on Wednesday said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif must resign as he has lost all moral legitimacy to be Prime Minister due to the charges of money laundering.
The former Pakistani cricketer’s comment comes amidst of rising terror situation by Pakistan sponsored terror groups and India’s response of surgical strikes over PoK.
Taking on the Sharif’s resignation, Khan further said, “Mian Panama Sharif has been caught for money laundering, tax evading and hiding of assets, thereby losing all moral legitimacy to be Prime Minister”. Sharif has only two options now: either to present himself for accountability or to resign like the Prime Minister of Iceland did.
Pakistan had decided to forge a united political front against India through a joint session of Parliament to discuss the Kashmir issue. However, it received a rude shock on Tuesday when Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf party decided to boycott the decision.
“Nothing new will be achieved that was not achieved with PTI’s active participation, But I want to ask how any politician with a moral compass can accept a PM who has been caught money laundering in Panama Papers”, said Khan.
“He cannot seek shelter behind Indian aggression in Kashmir and LoC, especially as he failed to respond firmly to it,” Khan said, referring to the Indian surgical strikes which Pakistan says never happened.
