Pauri Garhwal, October 7: An Upper Divisional Clerk working in ‘Q’ Office, Garhwal Regimental Centre, District Pauri Garhwal, Uttarakhand has been arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 4 lakh from a complainant.
According to the complainant the bribe was demanded so as to initite the processing of his pension claim. The complainant, who is an employee of Garhwal Regimental Centre, has alleged that the accused had demanded a bribe of Rs.8 lakh in two instalments of Rs.4 lakh each.
A case is registered U/s 7 of PC Act, 1988 against the said Clerk on a complaint. CBI laid a trap and caught the accused. Searches operations were conducted at the premises of accused which led to recovery of Rs 55 lakh (approx) in cash and documents related to various investments & properties.
The arrested accused will be produced today in the Court of Special Judge, CBI Cases, Dehradun. As per the report by CBI the numbers of cases relating to bribery are increasing day by day.
