New Delhi, November 1: On the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, considered as the Iron man of India, Prime Minister Modi flagged off the ‘Run for Unity’ campaign for National stadium in New Delhi. The Prime Minister also released a stamp to commemorate the anniversary of Sardar Patel.
He also launched a Web Portal on Sardar Patel and a Souvenir on “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’’ scheme yesterday. Prime Minister also gave several illustrations to explain how the “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat” initiative can build bonds between the people of various States of India.
Addressing an enthusiastic crowd of participants on the occasion, the Prime Minister said that all Indians want India to be a strong, prosperous nation. He said unity is the basic requirement for this. He said we must make a conscious effort to preserve our unity.
The Prime Minister said that the feeling of Indian-ness binds 125 crore people together. He spoke at length about Sardar Patel’s role in integrating the nation, by convincing princely states to join the Union. The Prime Minister also paid floral tributes to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on Rashtriya Ekta Diwas at Patel Chowk, in New Delhi yesterday along with Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh.
