Vishakhapatnam, November 17: India’s permanent Test Batsman Cheteshwar Pujara completed 3000 runs in Test, making a record for becoming the fifth fastest batsman to complete the milestone. He also scored a century in the ongoing test match against the England and reached the 3000 milestone in just 55 innings. Pujara shares the record along with Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid for scoring such a massive runs record with in a very less time.
Pujara has been in great form in Test matches. He has scored three half-centuries and 3 centuries in last five matches. His recent Test scores are 62, 78, 87, 4, 41, 101*, 124, 18 and 100*, the last one being made on Thursday against the England. He has made a permanent spot in the Test squad of the team.
After openers KL Rahul and Vijay went away giving easy wickets making scoreboard 21-2, Pujara came out with full form to partner Kohli to lead India to a powerful batting. Kohli also reached his 100* and is batting with Pujara. So far India has reached the 237-2, with both the batsmen handling the pitch. The present series with England is a four match Test series which is leveled at 0-0 after first match ending in draw.
The fastest Indian batsman to reach the record was Virender Sehwag, who reached the mark in just 55 innings. It is followed by Mohammad Azharuddin, Sunil Gavaskar and Gautam Gambhir who took 64, 66 and 66 innings respectively. Along with Tendulkar and Dravid, Pujura stands on the fifth position for reaching the mark. Meanwhile Murli Vijaya also reached his 3000 Test runs mark in the ongoing match. The fastest batsman to score 3000 runs is Australian Don Bradman, who achieved it in just 33 innings.
