New Delhi, November 23: A gigantic protest against government’s demonetization decision was carried out by over 10 political parties outside Parliament on Wednesday. Ever since the demonetisation drive has come into action, government is being criticized by opposition parties over their decision to demonetize Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000 currency notes
Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi today claimed that demonetization is PM's biggest impromptu financial experiment. He said, “Opposition parties are only demanding that PM should come and address the Parliament, why isn't he coming?”
It is obvious that this protest by opposition parties is just an attention seeking strategy to settle their own political careers. In the meantime, senior Union ministers including Rajnath Singh, Ananth Kumar, MA Naqvi held meeting in Venkaiah Naidu's chamber to decide the government's strategy in Parliament.
Post meeting Naidu claiming the protests pointless and said, “Opposition is not allowing discussion in the house by creating uproar, on the contrary they are putting blame on government, Poor people want demonetisation to be a success, they see PM as their messiah; opposition is overlooking public's mood”
Mamta Banerjee, who has been opposing the drive, leaded a protest at the Jantar Mantar on Wednesday. The protestors reached the location at around 10am, including 24 MP’s of the Samajwadi Party, 7 of the Bahujan Samaj Party, 10 from Nationalist Congress Party, 95 from the Congress, 45 of TMC, 18 of JDU, 12 from VSR and CPM 20.
The Prime Minister also launched a survey on demonetisation and invited the common man to answer questions on his Narendra Modi mobile app so as to get a clear insight of their views on demonetisation. Governments efforts to eradicate black money are in full swing.
