Victoria, November 25: Indian Shuttler PV Sindhu entered the semi-finals of the Hong Kong Open on Friday. She set up a potential semifinal against Saina Nehwal after beating Singapore's Xiaoyu Liang 21-17, 21-23, 21-18 in the quarterfinal of the Hong Kong Open Super Series badminton tournament.

Sindhu had beaten Taipei's Hsu Ya Ching in the previous round on Thursday, when Saina Nehwal, Ajay Jayaram and Sameer Verma had all won their respective matches.

PV Sindhu is now the only Indian in top ten, with Saina dropping five places to go 11th following her injury layoff and first round exit at China Open.

This is Saina's second tournament after a knee surgery. She is also the only Indian woman to have won the Hong Kong Open, having beaten China's Wang Shixian in the 2010 final. Saina will face Hong Kong's Cheung Ngan Yi in the quarters later today.

In men's singles, Sameer Verma will be facing Malaysia's Chong Wei Feng, and Ajay Jayaram will take on Hong Kong's Angus Ng Ka Long in the quarterfinals later today.
