New Delhi, November 28: Harminder Mintoo, chief of Khalistan Liberation Front (KLF) who eloped from Nabha jail in Punjab on Sunday along with five other inmates was detained by Delhi police from Delhi railway station on Monday. The terrorist is now been taken to a secret location for further interrogation by Delhi police. The operation to detain the mastermind terrorist was mutually executed by Delhi and Punjab Police
The rescue of the KLF chief clearly suggests that efforts are being made across the border to perk up terrorism in Punjab.
Mintoo and the other five flee in a jailbreak on Sunday morning when armed men in police uniform tricked gatekeepers to opening gates and entered the Nabha jail. Along with Mintoo, five gangsters lodged in the jail also escaped.
Reports came in saying that the men came in four cars, some in turbans and some clean shaven. Four of them were in police uniform and they pretended that they were bringing a handcuffed criminal.
Two senior prison officials, Superintendent and Deputy Superintendent, are sacked by Punjab government. It also ordered to set up an inquiry committee headed by Additional Chief Secretary, Jagpal Singh Sandhu to look into the "security lapses".
One more arrest was executed by police during the jailbreak. Police arrested Parminder Singh who played a main role in planning and executing the jailbreak and was driving one of the SUVs used in the escape.
Harminder Mintoo was arrested by Punjab Police after he was deported from Thailand in November 2014, since he was wanted in ten terror cases. Others who fled were gangster Vicky Gaundar, Amandeep Dhotian, Gurpreet Sekhon, Nita Deol and Kashmira Singh, who is also a terrorist.
