Mumbai, November 3: Leading a team on a tough competition, Virat Kohli will be skipper against the five match Test series against the England. The first test will start from November 9 followed by four more Tests. England will fly back home after the fifth Test in Chennai (December 16-20) for Christmas and will return for three-match ODI and T20I series after the break.

The All-India Senior Selection Committee met on Wednesday to pick the India team for the first two Test matches of the five-match Paytm Test Series against England.The squad for the first two Tests includes Virat Kohli as Captain, Ajinkya Rahane as Vice Captain and Wriddhiman Saha as wicketkeeper.

The rest team consists of M Vijay, Gautam Gambhir, Cheteshwar Pujara, R Ashwin, W Saha (WKT), R Jadeja, Amit Mishra, M Shami, Ishant Sharma, Umesh Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Karun Nair, Jayant Yadav. Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan and KL Rahul are out of the team due to injury. Gautam Gambhir and hardik Pandya has been allotted the replacement place.

THE ENGLAND SQUAD

Earlier, with the absence of James Anderson, England announced the team for the series. England has named an unchanged squad from Bangladesh series for next month’s Test tour to India. Alaister Cook will be leading the team which is at Bangladesh for a Test series. As top seeded Test bowler Anderson is recovering from shoulder injury, he has been omitted from the team squad.

England will be also without Mark Wood, the Durham fast bowler owing to an ankle injury, but an extra seamer has not been named. While Stuart Broad, Chris Woakes, Ben Stokes, Steven Finn and Jake Ball provide the fast and seam bowling options, England’s spin attack comprises Moeen Ali, Adil Rashid, Gareth Batty and Zafar Ansari. 


Schedule

The first and the second test will be played at Rajkot and Vizag respectively. The third and the fourth Test is scheduled at Mohali and Mumbai followed by the final Test at Chennai. The first Test will start from 9 November and the whole Test series will end on 20 December. The after a break of English team of Christmas in their native country, the Cook-led will arrive in India to play the ODI and T-20 series.

India had an awesome Test series against the New Zealand and England is had a fabulous performance against the Bangladesh in the just completed test series. Keeping in view that the European nation is playing in the sub-continent since recent time, and that India will be hosting the Test series, the Nov-Dec series is expected to a nail-biting competition.  The competition also seeks tough fight between Indian bowlers and English bowlers who are the top contenders in Test rankings.
