Mumbai, November 6: Before the upcoming entertaining Test clash between the England and India, the visitor’s skipper Alastair Cook on Saturday said that playing with no. 1 or no. 2 team is always a pressure event.
“Any time you play the No. 1 or the No. 2 ranked team in their backyard, it's a big challenge. .Though India goes in as favourites, I am confident England can repeat their success like that of four years ago”, the left handed batsman said.
“This is a very different bowling attack,” Cook said. “Swanny and Monty four years ago were at the peak of their powers. Swanny was a very good bowler and Monty did an outstanding job in the three Test matches he played here, holding one end up for us to bowl consistently well. Unfortunately, we have not got that experience and probably the top quality spinners but we have got guys who have been very successful against India in the past.
"It's a big challenge. Any time you play the No. 1 or the No. 2 ranked team in their backyard, It's a huge challenge to these guys who have not played a huge amount of cricket in the subcontinent as a group," said Cook.
“I remember saying in a press conference after the first Test match (Ahmedabad) when everyone was talking about how we are going to stop India from winning 4-0. We managed to turn it around and win 2-1. So, anything is possible. One thing you can never fault these guys is whatever challenge you have thrown at them, they have always managed in big games. Someone has stood up and played good cricket.” He further said.
