New Delhi, November 7: With the party politics in mind before the UP assembly elections on the head, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi once again targeted the arrows of allegations on the Modi government saying that Modi government is obsessed with power and seeks to silence all those who disagree.
With the absence of Party President Sonia Gandhi due to health issues, the parliamentarian from Amethi took to free flow of words criticizing the government at the centre while chairing the meeting of Congress Working Committee which was attended by senior colleagues of the party.
Saying that government is blocking the fundamental freedom of people, Gandhi said that Govt want to mum whoever disagrees with it. “Asking questions is what discomforts this government the most, for they have no answers,” he said.
He also pointed out that this will strengthen his party’s approach to fight back. “Attempts by Govt to suppress fundamental freedoms by abusing State power will only strengthen our resolve to defeat such dangerous designs,” said Gandhi.
Putting a question on activities of the parliament under NDA’s reign, Indian Youth Congress chief said that Govt has passed undermining laws through parliament. “BJP-ruled States are actively diluting and undermining laws passed by Parliament. Land Acquisition Act and the Real Estate Legislation are cases in point. The Modi government is lobbying with States via informal channels to deny work under MGNREGA to the very poor.
Calling that the Army is going through the tough phase during BJP’s rule, Rahul said, “In recent months, our Jawans have suffered the highest casualties in decades. They are being cruelly rewarded by a callous government with denial of OROP and cut in disability pensions”.
Pointing out the upcoming State elections, he said that the Modi govt to launch a campaign of disinformation and polarization. “With State elections due in the coming months we can safely expect the Modi govt to launch a campaign of disinformation and polarization. They will exploit caste and religious fault lines. We must anticipate and neutralize such devious strategies”.
Gandhi also pointed out the phenomena of NDTV ban and said that govt is blocking a channel which is blow to democracy. He said that democracy is going through a darkest hours. Notably, NDTV have been given 24 hours ban by I&B ministry for putting national security at risk during coverage of Pathankot terror attack. The channel broadcast sensitive information during the counter terror operations by the Army which kept the safety of citizens at risks.
