Patna, December 1: Star-studded Indian Railways retained the title of the 64th Senior National Women Kabaddi Championship here after defeating Haryana by 20-15 in the finals at Patliputra Sports Complex on Wednesday.
The half time score was 13-8 in favor of Railways. Railways earned 1 bonus and 2 lona points, while Haryana bagged 2 bonus points during the 40-minute battle.
Tejeshwini and Payal Chaudhury earned most of valuable points for the winners.
Payal Choudhury of Railways and Sakhshi Kumari of Haryana were awarded with best raider and the best defender trophy, respectively.
The match got tougher when Punjab team and Andhra Pradesh team moved into semi-final on Wednesday making it harder to snatch the lead for Railways team. After playing harder, semi-final spots of the 64th Senior National Women Kabaddi Championship were booked by Indian Railways, Andhra Pradesh, Haryana and Maharashtra.
In the first quarterfinal match, Indian Railways took lead 18-13 at the half time. Randeep Kaur worked hard for Punjab team scoring 22 points but it proved not enough. Finally, Railways beat Punjab 45-30. Railways bagged 8 bonus and 6 lona points while Punjab learned 10 bonus points and 2 lona. Indian Railways maintained the lead and bagged the title.
