New Delhi, December 13: Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Tuesday in a press statement slammed Congress, Congress leaders and former finance minister P Chidambaram by saying that there were two striking features of the two Congress regimes (UPA), no steps against corruption or black money.
Minister Jaitley further said that the corruption scams peaked in Congress regime and after giving this scandalous record obviously opposition or Congress party will be uncomfortable with such anti-corruption steps. Jaitley strongly said that government or common man can easily understand that why Congress are uncomfortable with demonetisation.
Jaitley also said that the Centre was in the process of completing the demonetisation scheme which was announced on November 8 aimed at flushing out black money and counterfeit currency from the system. He said, “We are now rapidly completing the DeMonetisation scheme, significant amounts will be injected in next 3 weeks.”
Jaitley also said about the benefits demonetisation may bring, he said, “Future transactions will be substantially digital and once they are substantially digital they get caught in the tax net.” He further added, “There are obvious advantages of this, not withstanding some transient problems people have to face.”
Jaitley on this occasion also urged to opposition parties to “rise above slogans and join the movement.” Reiterating what his party leaders have been saying in the past, he said the ruling dispensation was ready to debate the issue in Parliament. Finally he said that some people are trying to weaken the system but Government will not spare them at all.
Interestingly, Arun Jaitley replied to P Chidambaram who held a Press conference in Nagpur and questioned government over demonetisation.
