New Delhi, December 24: The Centre is working towards getting various women-centric schemes and policies implemented at various levels across states in India, Union Minister of State for Women and Child Development, Ms Krishna Raj said at an ASSOCHAM event held in New Delhi.
“We are getting various policies for women empowerment implemented across states to further boost their contribution in India’s economic development,” said Ms Raj while inaugurating an ASSOCHAM summit on ‘Enterprising Women: Rise up the ladder.’
“Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, One Stop Centre, Kaushal Vikas, Mahila Kosh and other such schemes aimed at empowering women are being implemented across states,” she said.
“There is a need to promote awareness about various schemes floated by the government for women empowerment, more so in rural centres,” she added. The Union Minister said that through such schemes, women are not only getting trained but are also setting up their own businesses and are promoting employment at various levels.
Highlighting the role of trade and industry in promoting women empowerment, Ms Raj said, “More and more women need to be encouraged to take benefit of all such government schemes, industry bodies have a significant responsibility of promoting awareness as part of their corporate social responsibility CSR initiatives.”
“It is not just at the urban centres, but women are significantly contributing towards growth and development of almost every sector today,” further said the Union Minister.
“Women have been facing challenges in every sphere of life as such they should not wait for society and people to change their mindset but instead remain positive and work towards reaching their goal,” said Ms Lamba. She also said that women need to become fearless and raise their voices against the wrongdoings.
In her address at the ASSOCHAM conference, Aam Aadmi Party MLA, Ms Alka Lamba stressed upon the need for women to shed all inhibitions about the society’s view about them but instead work towards becoming independent without getting bogged down by negativity.
