New Delhi, December 26: Union Minister for urban development Venkaiah Naidu expressed the urge towards developing Andhra Pradesh and happiness over releasing funds over Polavaram project in Andhra Pradesh today. Finance Minister Arun Jaitley handed over the cheque to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Nadu at an event in New Delhi.
While addressing the “Sanction and Release of First Loans to Gujarat and Maharashtra for respective state projects” and “NWDA for Polavaram project in Andhra Pradesh” Naidu said that Rs. 2480.91 crore is released under Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana for Maharashtra, Gujarat and Andhra Pradesh by National Bank of Agricultural and Rural Development (NABARD).
The Ministry of Water Resources has released total amount of Rs.2981.54 crore .Out of that the Centre has through NABARD released Rs. 1,982 crore to Andhra Pradesh towards the Polavaram irrigation project. This funding is being done through NABARD, which has now started funding irrigation projects. Chandrababu thanked the Union Government for the assistance in the construction of Polavaram project.
Naidu praised central government for the development of Andhra Pradesh. He thanked Prime Minister Modi and said that “He was very happy about “Polavaram” project which is now becoming a reality whose foundation stone laid in 1980”.
