New Delhi, Dec 28 : In order to reinstate the declining law and order situation in the state of Manipur centre has asked state government for maximum utilization of 17,500 paramilitary personnel for controlling the ground situation on a National Highway which was blocked for nearly two months by United Naga Council (UNC).

In an official communication to state government communication, home ministry has directed Manipur government to re-arrange the 175 companies of security forces. The UNC has imposed the blockade on NH-2 (Imphal-Dimapur) and NH 37 (Imphal-Jiribam) since November 1.

Earlier Home Ministry had deployed additional 4,000 paramilitary personnel to Manipur, thus taking the total number of Central security personnel deployed in the sensitive state to 17,500.
