Guwahati, Dec 29: In order to accumulate the members of alliance partner AGP and BPF Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal is likely to induct eight new ministers in his 10 member cabinet.
Informing about the decision during his interaction with media state BJP President Ranjit Das said that the much-awaited expansion of the Assam Cabinet will take place sometime during the week-long Bhogali Bihu festival.
He informed that after due consultation with chief minister Sonowal and other senior party functionaries government would take the final call on the same. Eight new ministers will be inducted, including six BJP legislators and one each from the alliance partners the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and the Bodoland People’s Front (BPF),” said Ranjit Das.
Ranjit Das was holding the office of the Assam Legislative Assembly but central BJP leadership elected him as the President of the state unit of the party. Assam has 126 MLAs.
