New Delhi, December 3: International day of Persons with Disabilities PDW is being observed today on Saturday around the world to promote awareness of disability issues, fundamental rights of PWDs. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, has saluted the determination of our Divyangs and has conveyed his best wishes to them.
Today is the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, it is an annual event promoted by the United Nations to promote an understanding of disability issues and mobilize support for the dignity, rights and well-being of persons with disabilities since 1992. It also seeks to increase awareness of gains to be derived from the integration of persons with disabilities in every aspect of political, social, economic and cultural life.
PM Modi expressed on twitter saluting the people with disabilities.
“On International Day of Persons with Disabilities, I salute determination of our Divyang sisters and brothers and convey my best wishes to them”, he said.
The theme for this year’s International Day is “Achieving 17 Goals for the Future We Want”. This theme notes the recent adoption of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the role of these goals in building a more inclusive and equitable world for persons with disabilities. It has been celebrated with varying degrees of success around the planet.
Let us continue our ongoing efforts with renewed vigor and create a nation where both accessibility and equality prevail”, the Prime Minister said.
As the saying goes, “The only disability in life is to perceive your own self or others as disabled, for in your mind lies ammunition; in your mind lays glory.” Let everyone of us support them and become their strength on this International day of Persons with Disabilities.
