Itanagar, December 30: Arunachal Pradesh once again has fallen into deep political troubles after the ruling People's Party of Arunachal (PPA) on Thursday evening temporarily suspended Chief Minister Pema Khandu. Like to tell you that PPA has also suspended deputy chief minister Chowna Mein and other 5 MLA’s also.
The suspended MLA’S Jambey Tashi, C T Mein, P D Sona, Zignu Namchoom and Kamlung Mossang. This comes in the backdrop of serious differences within the PPA which now seems to have been divided into two factions - one consisting of old PPA members versus the new joinees who had defected from the Congress earlier this year led by chief minister Pema Khandu.

Notably, on Friday morning PPA President Kahfa Bengia have written a letter to acknowledge the state assembly speaker about the party's "disciplinary action" against seven lawmakers and subsequent decision to place them under "temporary" suspension.

The PPA also urged the Assembly Speaker to declare the MLAs suspended as unattached members and “arrange separate sitting arrangements in the House pending drawl of disciplinary proceedings against them or till revocation of the suspension order by the PPA authorities”.

Kahfa Bengia had also directed all PPA MLAs and functionaries not to attend any meeting convened by Khandu “who is now ex-PPA Legislature Party leader, failing which necessary disciplinary action shall be initiated against violators of the order.”

Notably, Khandu had taken over as chief minister in July last after months of political drama in the politically-instable State that saw 43 rebel Congress MLAs merging with the PPA, thereby ousting Nabam Tuki’s Congress government. Just days later, Khandu’s predecessor Kalikho Pul had allegedly committed suicide.

Meanwhile, Arunachal Pradesh Congress committee (APCC) President Padi Richo has asked the party workers to remain apprehensive of mid-term polls in the state. "The party is planning to go to the common people and accordingly directed the party cadres to go to block and district level and consult with common people and get first hand information and to start a mass movement against demonetisation," Richo said. He appealed the workers to get ready for such situations where a Congress government could be reinstated in the in the state or a mid-term poll.
