Bhubaneswar, February 1: The Odisha State Pollution Control Board (OSPCB) on Sunday sealed the OTDC Pantha Niwas here for polluting water and air in violation of norms. OSPCB had also sealed three hotels, Highway Inn, Urmee and Shreya located in the capital city.
The OSPCB had issued notices to the Pantha Niwas and seven other hotels a week ago asking clarification on air and water pollution created by them.
Later, they were asked to give reply in person before the board. As they didn’t comply with the notices and orders, the pollution board has started sealing these hotels.
It should be noted that the pollution board had in August 2015, listed 83 hotels, which violated the norms and served show cause notices on them.
Only 58 hotels applied for consent and responded to the board’s show cause notices.
