PM Modi unveils plaques for railway bridge projects in Bihar; stresses on need for complete modernization of Railways

Hajipur, March 13: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday dedicated to the nation, the rail portion of a newly constructed Digha-Sonepur Rail-cum-Road Bridge in Hajipur yesterday. During the function the PM also unveiled plaques for the commencement of operation of goods trains on the newly constructed Rail-cum-Road Bridge at Munger, and for the foundation stone of an additional bridge at Mokama, near the Rajendra Pul.
Addressing a large and enthusiastic gathering on the occasion, the Prime Minister said that the newly dedicated bridge will improve transportation, and the economic situation of people in the area. He recalled that it was when Atal Bihari Vajpayee was the Prime Minister, and the current Chief Minister of Bihar, Nitish Kumar was the Union Railway Minister, that the foundation stone had been laid for this project.

The Prime Minister emphasized that it was essential for India's eastern states to develop, for the sustainable growth of the entire country. The nerve centre for India's development lies in eastern India, he asserted. He added that if India had to develop, Bihar must develop. 

PM Modi said that infrastructure, especially roads and railways, sows the seeds of development, and gives pace to progress and underlined the need for the complete modernization of the Railways.The Prime Minister assured that this government will work to boost up the speed of trains, improve passenger services, amenities on stations, complaint redressal mechanism and use of digital technology. He also said that in the last 18 months of NDA Government two-and-a-half times more development works were completed in comparison to the five years of UPA Government.
