Nagaur (Rajasthan), Mar 14: Expressing serious concern over the discriminatory behaviour in the society Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Sarkaryawah Suresh alias Bhayyaji Joshi called upon the people to shun all kinds of discriminations and differences from our behaviour towards the neglected sections of the society.
Reiterating that Bharat stands for high and lofty philosophy propagated by our great saints, rishis and thinkers Joshi exhorted all to inculcate the principle of social equality and harmony towards all. This Hindu philosophy which is the most superior in the world is contaminated due to certain wrong traditions and customs but we should not discriminate with humans on the basis of such customs, he said.
Bhayyaji Joshi was interacting with the reporters at the last day of the three-day Akhil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha (ABPS) of RSS here. He said we must understand the agony of discrimination prevalent in the deprived sections of the society and rectify our behaviour towards them to create a harmonious society.
Bhayyaji stressed that RSS contemplated on creating an integral and homogenous society sans difference of castes, untouchability, exploitation etc. Such traditions should be uprooted and destroyed forever, he said. He called for change in behavioural patterns as per the changing times and needs and appealed to religious and social institutions and organizations to come forward for this mission.
It may be noted that the RSS ABPS has passed a resolution in its three-day conclave to this effect and exhorted every citizen to imbibe the principle of equality and harmony towards all the fellow citizens at personal, family and societal levels. Bhayyaji appealed to the saints, intellectuals and social activists to create a massive public awareness on this issue to that this objective of creating a society based on principles of equality and harmony be achieved.
RSS changes according to changing times:
The RSS Sarakaryawah said that RSS is not a static organization. It is an organic entity which inculcates changes according to changing times and needs. The organization is not identified with ‘knickers’ only but is known in the society for many other reasons.
He was commenting on the change of uniform in the Sangh. The ABPS has taken a decision to shift to ‘brown trousers’ replacing the khaki knickers, heralding a major change in its age-old uniform which has almost become its identity.
Bhayyaji said that trouser has been the most accepted garment in the present society and the RSS adjusts itself with the changes in society. Therefore, we have accepted to shift to trousers which in due course of time would become an identifying mark of the Sangh. He said that it would take 4-6 months to implement the change in the uniform.
RSS’ acceptability increases
Replying to a question the RSS leader denied that the Sangh work increased due to change in the government. He said in the last one year shakhas have increased by 5500 due to continuous process. Accepting that the acceptance of Sangh has increased he said that the RSS has reached to 58000 villages in the country.
The RSS ‘jagaran patrika’ reaches to almost 2.5 lakh villages, 14500 swayamsevaks devoted some period of their life for spreading Sangh work in other areas as vistarak.
Commenting on the mentality to equate RSS with ISIS, he said such comments are wrong but more painful is the level of people who make such comments. They are clearly showing how intellectually bankrupt they are, he said. Such people only exposed their political ignorance, he added.
Well-off should not go for quota:
In a reply to a question on violent agitations in Haryana and Gujarat on reservation issue, the RSS leader said that it was a serious issue. Reservation given to SC/ST by Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar is ‘just’. This benefited a large section of deprived section of the society. However, the prosperous sections demanding reservation is ‘not a step in right direction’, he said appealing them to give up it for the weaker sections of the society. He said there is a need to study the issue of creamy layer and reservation in depth before reaching any conclusion.
JNU event serious issue
Describing the JNU controversy as a “matter of serious concern for all citizens”, he said how do we justify this mentality eulogising the traitors and terrorists? He wondered whether “our universities were becoming centres of anti-national activities”. The law will take its course in this case but there we should not indulge in petty politics on this issue. Interest of the nation, security and integrity of the society should be given supreme priority, he said adding that there should be no compromise on these principles. He welcomed the awakened citizens for venting out their angst and concern over such anti-national activities in the JNU and other universities.
Commenting on Sri Sri Ravishankar’s World Cultural Festival Bhayyaji Joshi said that it was the event that strengthened the society. He deplored the attempts to derail this event in the name of environment issues. It is not in the interest of the society and nation to stall such events, he said. But at the same time he underlined the need to follow the environment rules and regulations.
Commenting on entry of women into temples the RSS leader said that there is no bar on entry to women into temples but at some places there maybe some restrictions on their entry. Such issues can be sorted out through discussion and not through agitations and politics.
