Mumbai/Meerut, Mar 19: History of sorts was created at Mahim’s historical Dargah on Friday. Denouncing the rhetoric of Asaduddin Owaisi over ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ hundreds of Muslims gathered at Mahim Dargah and hosted the national tricolour amidst chants of Bharat Mata ki Jai.

On the other hand Muslims in Meerut in UP displayed their devotion to Mother Bharat by writing 'Bharat Mata ki Jay' with their own blood.

And this happened for the first time in the history of Independent India! It also for the first time that the tricolour was hoisted at the Dargah after independence!!

The Mumbai Police Band played the Natinal Anthem saluting the tricolour in endorsement of unity of all the Indian people rising above their religion, castes and languages.

It was a proud emotional moment for Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadanvis who witnessed this historical occasion.

This happened against the background of Owaisi’s hate-speech regarding ‘Bharat Mata ki Jay’ slogan. Reacting to RSS Chief Mohanrao Bhagwat, Asaduddin Owaisi of AIMIM had reiterated his opposition to chanting ‘Bharat Mata ki Jay’ sighting the constitutional provision. His reaction evoked a very sharp response and reaction in the entire country.

It was against this background hundreds of Muslims came together at hoisted the national tricolour at this historically important Mahim Dargah in Mumbai on Friday amidst chants of Bharat Mata ki Jay.

The Peer Makhdum Shah Baba dargah in Mahim, which is celebrating its 603rd Urs (death anniversary of a saint) this year and which is visited by Indians of all denominations, was a scene of patriotic-religious bonhomie as ordinary and prominent people from all walks of life in Mumbai gathered at the dargah to pay their respects to the Tricolour and the Peer.

Suhail Khandwani, the president of the dargah's trust, who unfurled the Tricolour along with Shiv Sena MP Rahul Shewale among others, had earlier in the day said, "I am doing it out of love for my country, but I will not call anybody who refuses to do so as anti-national or unpatriotic."

According to agencies for the first time ever, the Tricolour was unfurled inside the dargah. “This is a historic moment for us and will send a great message to the entire nation,” Haji Arafat Shaikh, president of the Shiv Vahtuk Sena and a Shiv Sena leader, said after the hoisting of the Indian flag and the chanting of ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai.’

“While Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis was originally scheduled to unfurl the tiranga, he could not make it to the event as he was delayed because of the ongoing session of the Maharashtra assembly," Khandwani said.

"So, we had to unfurl the tiranga before sunset as the chief minister will now come only after 7.15 pm," Khandwani said.

Congratulating the people Chief Minister Devendra Fadanvis said on this occasion that this incident was an expression of love for the country and devotion for national flag. “I am very proud of this moment”, the Chief Minister said.

In his remarks Fadanvis congratulated the members of the Dargah and wrote “you are the true Muslims and you deserved to be congratulated for the respect you have shown for the tricolour and the nation”.

Later the Chief Minister launched the Facebook page of the dargah.

Meanwhile, in Meerut, hundreds of Muslims in the leadership of Mohd Imran saluted Mother India by writing ‘Bharat Mata ki Jay’ with their blood.

This happened as a reaction of Muslim community to Asaduddin Owaisi’s diatribe on this issue. Hundreds of Muslims gathered at the statue of Maharani Avantibai Lodhi and wrote ‘Bharat Mata ki Jay’ with their own blood.

Mohd Imran said people like Owaisi always tried to divide the people for their petty politics and thereby defame the entire Muslim community. But Islam does not allow and permits such acts.

Islam always taught us to love the country, and if necessary sacrifice everything including life for the sake of it. We Muslims are prepared to do anything for the country and oppose people like Owaisi openly, he added.

It may be recalled how noted writer Javed Akhtar exposed the AIMIM leader in his fiery speech in the Rajya Sabha. Akhtar said that it was his bounden duty to say ‘Bharat Mata ki Jay’. The Muslims of the country are now seeing through his game plan and will not allow them to succeed, he said.
