New Delhi, April 1: Government will supply 150 boats and fishing equipments will to neighbouring country Sri Lanka with a total cost of Rs. 4.5 crore for fishermen in the country’s northern district.
A MoU regarding this was signed on Thursday by YK Sinha, Secretary of Ministry of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development.
“India will gift 150 boats and other fishing equipment to 300 beneficiaries in Mullaithivu”, the statement said. The project will be implemented in consultation with the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development and relevant local authorities.
The total cost of this project is 100 million Sri Lankan rupees (Rs 4.5 crore), the statement said, adding that the boats and equipment will be procured through a competitive bidding process.
