Ninora, (Ujjain), May 13: We need to follow the middle path to avoid conflict between development and environment while framing our policies and implementing them, said Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Sarsanghchalak Dr Mohanrao Bhagwat here.
He was speaking after inaugurating the three-day “International Vichar Kumbh” on the sidelines of Simhastha Mahakumbh at Ujjain on May 12. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be addressing the concluding session of the three-day thought-provoking program on May 14.
Madhya Pradesh Government has organized this ‘Vichar Kumbh’ initiating churning of thoughts for human welfare and development. Chief of Juna Akhara Swami Avadheshanand Giri, Upattis Nayak Thero, Dr Pranav Pandya of Gayatri Parivar and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan were prominently present.
In his inaugural address the RSS Chief said that nobody is interested in the destruction of the environment while opting for development. But with the advent of the multinational companies, there is always a threat to the environment.
There is no solution to the inherent conflict between environment and development, Bhagwat said, adding we need to find out a better alternative considering means to safeguard the interests of both the parties. We need to follow the middle path and the common people will also have to adhere to that path honestly, he said.
Bhagwat said that Buddha preferred dharma as the middle path. Similarly, we need to strike a middle way to balance development and environment protection, he added. Science and spirituality are not anti-thesis of each other. On the other hand, we need to achieve a proper balance between the two to find out solutions to the global problems, the RSS chief appealed to the audience.
He said that the world is now considering honouring the diversity instead of merely accepting its presence. Honouring diversity is the key to global peace and progress, he said. There is no alternative to this coordination and the middle path to save our existence. The RSS chief thanked and congratulated Chief Minister Shivraj Singh for organising this ‘Vichar Kumbh’.
