Puri, May 18: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to direct the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to take up the repair and restoration of Jagamohana, the prayer hall of the Lord Jagannath temple in Puri at the earliest.
It should be noted that earlier Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik writes letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi over this issue. It should be noted that earlier on Monday Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan Monday held a review meeting with Union Culture and Tourism Minister Mahesh Sharma at the former's residence.
After the meeting, Pradhan told media persons that a team of experts led by the Union Culture and Tourism Secretary will visit Odisha soon and have a detailed study of the damaged portion of the Jagamohan.
The team will have discussions with the technical core committee on Jagamohan repair and state chief secretary before preparing a draft project report on the repairing work.
On the other hand, Mahesh Sharma said that devotees need not panic as there is no threat to the temple.
Cracks were noticed in Jagamohan after the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) removed the plaster of its inner roof, he said.
Commenting on the delay in repairing work, Sharma said there were some technical problems which led to the delay.
