New Delhi, May 27: Patanjali Ayurved has been rapped by Advertising Standards Council of India, an advertising sector watchdog.  It claims “false and misleading” content in its advertisements which include Hair oil and washing powder brand. Watchdog also opines that the advertisements related the products of Patanjali  “unfairly denigrates” the products other than Patanjali.


Patanjali’s advertisement claim and for its product Patanjali Kesh Kanti Natural Hair Cleanser and Oil, according to consumer complaints council of ASCI is also false and misleading by ambiguity and exaggeration. It says in its ad that “mineral oil is carcinogenic in nature and may cause cancer”.

There are also complaints against Patanjali Ayurved’s Patanjali Kachi Ghani Mustard Oil in which it said ‘Other than Kacchi Ghani process most of the other edible refined oils and mustard oil are made using neurotoxin Hexagon solvent extraction process. To make profits at the cost of consumers’ health many companies mix cheap palm oil in mustard oil”. This is considered to be misleading for the consumers watching these ads.

Patanjali Ayurved’s Patanjali Herbal Washing Powder, Cake and Dishwash Bar is also under complaint of advertising watchdog.
