Bhubaneswar, May 6: Odisha Government has decided to set up 1 lakh tube-wells for farmers to deal with unusual monsoon seasons. Agriculture Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik also decided to directly deposit subsidies amount in farmers' accounts to curb leaks.
The Agriculture Cabinet decided to constitute an Agriculture Taskforce to supervise agriculture-related schemes and give suggestions to the Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment Department. It also decided to directly deposit money against various subsidies directly in the farmers’ bank accounts.
Besides, it approved a proposal to set up 1 lakh tube-wells within a time frame. Nine Ministers belonging to Finance, Agriculture, Fisheries and Animal Resources Development, Cooperation, Water Resources, Energy, Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare, Scheduled Tribe and Scheduled Caste Development and Panchayati Raj departments attended the meeting.
