Dhaka, June 17: Attacks on minority Hindus in Bangladesh are on the rise. Recently a monk of Ramakrishna Mission order and a young lecturer were the victims of this growing anti-Hindu mentality in Bangladesh.

According to BDNews 24, a monk of Ramakrishna Mission received threat letter asking him to stop preaching of religion else he would be done to death.

In another case, a young Hindu lecturer of mathematics was critically injured by some fanatic Muslim criminals in Madaripur Sadar Upazila for making a comment on ISIS Chief Baghdadi's killing.

However, the local residents caught hold of one of the attackers named Golam Faizullah. He was later handed over the police at Madaripur, according to reports.

The injured Hindu lecturer is identified as Ripan Chakraborty, a lecturer of Govt Nazimuddin University College in the district, Ziaul Murshed, officer-in-charge of Madaripur Sadar Police Station said.

A group of Muslim criminals knocked on the door of Ripan’s house near the college campus around 4:30 pm and started indiscriminately stabbing him when he opened the door, said Prof Hiten Chandra Mandal, Principal of the college. The style of attacks resembled with the  Jamiat-ul-Mujahideen-Bangladesh (a local operative of the Islamic state in Bangladesh) method of hacking the Kaffirs to death as believed.

Ripan, who hailed from Agailjhara Upazila of Barisal, was first rushed to Madaripur Sadar hospital. Later, he was shifted to Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital in critical condition, the College principal added.

“He had four deep wounds in his head and several other wounds all over his body and in critical condition,” said Dr. Abu Safar Hawlader, medical officer of Madaripur Sadar hospital.

The reason behind the attack could not be ascertained immediately, the OC said adding that police detained a person in connection with the ghastly attack.

A source said that Chakroborty was sympathetic to the activists working on minority rights in Bangladesh and expressed his doubt today about any return of IS Chief Baghdadi, who is believed to be killed in Mosul in a US air attack. This ‘alleged remarks on Baghdadi’ might have enraged the Islamic nerve of the perpetrators to attack a liberal Hindu college teacher.

Meanwhile, various Hindu student forums sat on a dharna on Shahbag Road near National  Museum and BSMMU to register their protest over the serial Jihadi killings of Hindu & Buddhists priests and Ashram workers, a Christian preacher, NGO members, Rights activists, bloggers and liberals in Bangladesh.

Hindu Priest at Dhaka’s Ramakrishna Mission gets death threat: A priest at Ramakrishna Mission received death threat letter on Wednesday following murders across the country in recent suspected militant attacks.

The priest said that the letter asked him not to preach his religion failing compliance he would be done to death. He filed a General Diary (GD) at Wari Police Station around 9 pm after receiving the letter, Sub-Inspector Monir Ahmed told bdnews24.com.

Ahmed said, “The priest was told in the letter, ‘Bangladesh is an Islamic state, you can’t preach your religion here. If you continue preaching, you’ll be hacked to death with machetes between the 20th and 30th.”

The letter didn’t mention any month.

He said security was beefed up at Ramakrishna Mission after the GD. Top police officials also visit the temple.

Though international militant outfits Islamic State and al Qaeda claimed responsibilities of murders of several Hindu priests in different areas in the country, the government says these groups are not active in Bangladesh.
