Famous qawwali singer of Pakistan, Amjad Sabri shot dead by two unknown gunmen

Karachi, june 23: one of the famous Pakistani qawali singer Amjad Sabri shot dead in Liaquatabad near Karachi on Wednesday afternoon. The incident occurred when Amjad Sabri returning to home with his colleague in his own car, two unknown gunmen reached the spot by bike and started firing on sabri’s car. Five bullets fired by gunmen, three striked to Sabri- two on his head and one just below his ear. His colleague also got severely injured in this attack. 
Both Amjad Sabri and hi colleague were severely injured, was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where Amjad Sabri declared dead. He was dead before reaching to the hospital. According to police officials, "the killers had used pistols of 30 bore. Attackers hit 5 bullets. However Amjad’s family confirmed that he was already being threatened by unknowns and got some calls also, after which he asked Pakistani Government for protection but he did not seek any protection. According to sources, Tehreek-e-Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack.

 Sabri Brothers brand in the 1950s, built by his father Ghulam Farid and Maqbool uncle, two brothers born in Haryana's Rohtak, brought Qawwali in recognition to the world. The extended family of Amjad later started Sufi singing. Amjad was a famous qawwali singer and Maqbool Sabri's nephew. Maqbool Sabri is a brother of Ghulam Farid Sabri Qawwali Group who created group in the 50s together. Amjad was the legacy forward. His Persian composition, "Che floor moisture Danam bood 'was one of his famous qawwali.
