Itanagar, July 11: Tripura Governor Tathagata Roy was sworn-in as the acting Governor of Arunachal Pradesh on Sunday. Roy has been given the additional charge of Governor of Arunachal Pradesh during the leave of absence of incumbent Governor Jyoti Prasad Rajkhowa.Roy was administered the oath of office by the Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court, Justice Ajit Singh in a brief but impressive function at the Darbar Hall of Raj Bhavan. He is the 18th Governor to be sworn-in as the Governor of this Himalayan State.

Roy’s swearing-in ceremony was followed by a guard of honour presented by the Arunachal Pradesh Police commanded by Inspector Duyu Aago at the Raj Bhavan premises, news agency Echo of Arunachal reported.

Among others, Chief Minister Kalikho Pul and his Cabinet colleagues including Deputy Chief Ministers Kameng Dolo and Chowna Mein, Speaker Wangki Lowang, MLAs, former Chief Minister Gegong Apang, Chief Secretary Shakuntala D Gamlin and DGP S Nithianandam attended the function.

Earlier, the Governor-designate accompanied by his wife Anuradha Roy arrived in the State capital early this morning travelling by Intercity Express train from Guwahati. He was received by the Chief Minister and senior State Government officials at the Naharlagun railway station.
