New Delhi, July 19: The Congress members on Tuesday staged a walkout from the Lok Sabha over Union Home Minister Rajnath's Singh's statement accusing the Congress of destabilising popular governments. The Opposition parties created a ruckus in Lok Sabha amid the ongoing Monsoon Session of the Parliament. Senior Congress party leader Mallikarjun Kharge accused the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance of trying to destablise Congress governments in Uttarakhand and Arunachal Pradesh.

In response, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh hit out at the Congress and said whatever happened was because of the Congress' internal crisis. “If there is a hole, it is in your boat...And a boat with a hole, placed in water, will drown. You can't blame the water for it," Singh said, taking on Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge, who had charged that it is the BJP's "habit" to destabilise popular governments”, he said.
Slamming the Congress party, Rajnath said, “We had nothing to do with that," he said and maintained that the crisis in Uttarakhand was sparked off only after nine Congress legislators stood up in the assembly and said they opposed their own government.”

Rajnath said, “Kharge ji has levelled serious allegations against government of India. He said that this govt has a habit of destabilising popular governments. "Instead of making allegations against us, they should know, since Independence if any party is singularly responsible for toppling opposition parties in the states, it is the Congress. Since Independence they (Congress party) have toppled state governments and imposed President's Rule as many as 105 times," Rajnath Singh claimed.

The Home Minister said in such a situation "it is pointless to blame the water for the capsizing of the boat." Similarly, he said as many as two-thirds of Congress legislators had quit the parent party and formed a separate group to form a new government in Arunachal.
