New Delhi, July 24: Aam Aadmi Party MLA from Delhi Amanatullah Khan was arrested by Delhi Police on Sunday over charges of threatening and abusing a woman. Police said Khan is also accused of attempting to run over the woman with his car. He will be produced in court later in the day.
A complaint was filed against the AAP legislator on July 20 by a 35 year-old woman who said that Khan threatened her with dire consequences for raising issue of power cuts. “We have arrested the legislator today (Sunday) morning as the complainant again informed the police that he was threatening her and also trying to manipulate the evidences,” additional deputy commissioner of police (South East) Rajeev Ranjan said.

The complaint said that the woman went to the MLA’s house on July 10 to aware him about the poor condition of power supply in the area, when one of the Khan’s supporters abused and threatened for dire consequences. According to woman, this was happened on the direction of Khan.
Like always, several AAP members, including Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, allege that the charges against Khan are trumped up, and that the BJP is behind the episode. Following the arrest on Sunday, Khan’s supporters gathered outside the Jamia Nagar police station to protest Amanatullah's arrest.
