London, July 27: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Sarsanghchalak Dr. Mohanrao Bhagwat will be attending the Golden Jubilee celebrations of Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh (HSS) in the United Kingdom (UK) from July 29 t 31, 2016.

Bhagwat, who heads the largest Hindu NGO in the world, will be leaving for Europe today to participate in the ‘Sanskriti Mahashibir’ organised by the HSSUK on the occasion of its golden jubilee.

“I shall be leaving for London on July 26 to participate in a number of programs”, Bhagwat told a reporter on the sidelines of a book release program last Wednesday in Nagpur.

The Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh (HSS), which has over 110 weekly activity centres across the UK with an average weekly attendance of 2000, is holding this camp as a kick start to the year-long celebration.

HSS official release said that this camp will be the unprecedented residential gathering of over 2200 Hindus from across the UK and Europe from 29 to 31 July at Hertfordshire County Show Ground, near Luton.

The HSS is working in the UK since 1966 as a non-profit, volunteer-based organisation. It has developed and runs weekly youth leadership training centres across the country. Through its 100-odd branches, the HSS conducts health & fitness, cultural and character development in which over 2000 youth and elders participate on a weekly basis.

This Sankstiti Mahashibir is being held to mark the golden jubilee of the HSS. The venue of the camp will be transformed into a fully tented township with over 400 tents, with all facilities and amenities, the release said.

The theme of this historic gathering is Sanskaar (values of life), Sewa (selfless service) and Sangathan (community spirit). Every effort is made to use recyclable materials in the construction of site and activities (avoiding plastic materials), the release added.

Every effort is made to use recyclable materials in the construction of site and activities (avoiding plastic materials). The idea is to generate awareness of environmental sustainability in the participants, the majority of who will be youths.
