Mumbai, July 4: Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Radha Mohan Singh on Sunday visited the ICAR-CIRCOT in Matunga, Mumbai and also visited the research facilities, Nanocellulose Pilot Plant and the exhibition hall of the Institute. He showed keen interest in the institute activities. Dr. P.G. Patil, Director, ICAR-CIRCOT, welcomed the minister and briefed about the achievements of the Institute. Documentaries about the Institute activities and Nanocellulose Pilot Plant were screened during the occasion.Radha Mohan Singh addressed all the staff members of the institute in the Jubilee Hall and appreciated the activities of the Institute. The institute has organized 41 skill development programmes and undertaken 22 consultancies and signed 19 MoUs with the stakeholders during the last two years.
In the last two years ICAR-CIRCOT has established first ever Nanocellulose Pilot Plant, first in India and fifth in the World, which is the focus of the Prime Minister’s ‘Make in India’ Initiative. The institute also established Agri-Business Incubation Centre to promote entrepreneurship development in Agriculture.
During the occasion Minister has released the leaflet on Skill Development Programme. Chhabilendra Roul, Additional Secretary DARE and Secretary, ICAR, Dr. S.N. Jha, ADG (PE), ICAR and Directors of ICAR-CIFE, NRC Grapes and Directorate of Onion and Garlic were also present on the occasion.
