New Delhi, August 19: Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore on Friday while addressing a workshop in New Delhi has asked all the government officials to make the best use of social media such as facebook, twitter etc to provide all the information which is useful for general public.
On this occasion Rathore said through social media the government is trying to establish two-way communication with the people. He also said that the idea is to simplify communication and reach out to masses, it also can be helpful to empower and update people.
Rathore further said that there is a need to recalibrate the way the information is being shared from decision makers and the citizens. He said using social media to inform and get feedback on Government policies these days are very cost-effective.
In line with the Centre’s focus on social media, Press Information Bureau (PIB) organized a special workshop to train officials on effective use of ‘Facebook’ for government communication.
In this workshop officials learned that how Facebook and other social sites can be used more effectively for communication outreach. Rajyavardhan Rathore inaugurated the workshop at National Media Centre. The workshop is a joint endeavuor of PIB, New Media Cell of I&B Ministry and Facebook.
