New Delhi, August 22: Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh are the states which are currently hit by flood because of the raging Ganga. The people were put on high alert due to the alarming rise of the holy river. Prime Minister Narendra Modi provided a helping hand on Monday to help people curb the situation.
Taking the platform of twitter to address the situation, the Prime Minister tweeted, “Centre assures total support in the rescue & relief operations. I hope the situation in the affected areas normalises at the earliest”. He also said that he prays for the safety and wellbeing of those in areas affected by floods in parts UP, Bihar, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.
He also further assured that Home Minister Rajnath Singh is closely monitoring the situation and that he has spoken to the CMs & taken stock of rescue & relief operations. Meanwhile, Home Minister himself tweeted that he has spoken to the Chief Ministers of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Uttarakhand and Rajasthan this morning regarding the flood situation in their states. He said that that the CMs responded by informing him about the rescue and relief operations being carried out by the NDRF, SDRF and other government agencies. He tweeted, “I assured the Chief Ministers of full cooperation from the Centre in the flood mitigation drive launched by the states.”
Floods have affected more than a lakh people in Varanasi where as more than 20 per cent Allahabad has come under floods. Several rivers in central Uttar Pradesh and the Bundelkhand region have also touched the danger mark. In Bihar, floodwaters have inundated villages in Bhojpur, Buxar, Munger, Bhagalpur and Khagaria districts. Several parts of Patna, Vaishali and Saran districts are already under waters.
