New Delhi, August 26: After Bollywood star Deepika Padukone made to the list of highest paid actress, four Indian actors were also graced among the top 20 global actors who were highest paid in 2016. The list published by Forbes magazine considers earnings from June 2015, and featured Shah Rukh Khan and Akshay Kumar as the top two highest paid actors on 8th and 10th rank. The list also includes Salman Khan on 14th rank, which is followed by legend Amitabh Bachchan on 18th position.
The list was topped by former WWE wrestler and present actor, Dwayne Johnson, who filled his pocket with as much as 64.5 million dollars through movies such as Central Intelligence and Fast & Furious 8. Also popular as ‘The Rock’ during his Wrestling career, Johnson surpassed the last year highest paid star Robert Downey Jr., who was pushed to 8th rank with total cash of 33 billion dollars, clashing with Bollywood King Khan.
Shah Rukh Khan has always topped the race when it’s about earning through acting in Bollywood. Although Khan was not able to win the heart of fans through films like Fan and Dilwale Khan this year, he has made enough money to enter the Forbes list.
Akshay Kumar was an obvious option to be expected in the list as he had touched the 100-crore earning mark with his three blockbuster films till now- Airlift, Housefull 3 and Rustom. With a procedure of making 3-4 films during a year, the Bollywood Khiladi grabbed the 10th position in the list with 31.5 million dollars. Akshay is also sharing the rank with US actor Brad Pitt.
Also, with gaining massive popularity with his Wrestler based film Sultan, Salman Khan has not only pushed his film into 2nd rank in highest earning, but also entered the Forbes list at 14th rank. The credit goes to two of his back to back films Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Sultan, which crossed 300 crore at box office.
All time legend Amitabh Bachchan also entered the list at the 18th rank with earning big through his films Piku and Teen. Big B earned a whooping 20 million dollars in the year, followed by suicide squad star Will Smith at 17th rank.
Meanwhile, rounding out the top five is perennial list member Tom Cruise (No. 4, $53 million) and Johnny Depp (No. 5, $48 million), the latter of whom received a restraining order against him in May, after his wife, Amber Heard, alleged he physically and verbally abused her. The couple reached a $7 million divorce settlement in August; Heard donated the cash to charity.
