Drug alert worries Rio Olympics as Brazilian police seizes 94 kg cocaine near Bolivia border

Rio de Janeiro, August 3: After the terror alerts, dangers of drugs also seems to hover the Olympic Games in Brazil. At least 94 kg of cocaine which was buried at a farm was seized by the Brazilian police in State of Mato Grosso do Sul.
Authorities claimed that it was meant to be sold during the Olympics Games in Rio de Janeiro. The drugs were located by police about 15 km from Corumba, a town which borders the neighbour country Bolivia. Along with the drugs, three men and a woman were also arrested by the police during the operation The men aged between 33 and 45 while the woman was 55 years old.

The police operation was carried out after receiving a telephone complaint and digger were employed to retrieve the drugs. In addition to cocaine, ammunition and mobile phones with call records to Bolivia were also found in the houses of the suspects. Part of the drug was labelled with pictures of football stars Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar as well as a "Joker" -- a fictional character, which criminal groups in Rio de Janeiro identify with.

The Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro is set to kick off from Friday. Earlier a terror plot was also identified and ten local persons were arrested in this regard. After the seizure of drugs, the alert has been increased by the police.
