New Delhi, Aug 31: BJP National President Amit Shah appointed Union Ministers J P Nadda and Dharmendra Pradhan as party in charge of Uttarakhand for the upcoming Assembly polls.
He also appointed Union Minister Prakash Javdekar as election in charge for the Manipur Assembly election. Both states will go to polls next year.
Bharatiya Janata Party is trying hard to regain the Himalyan state which they had lost in 2012. Bagging all the seats in the 2014 Lok Sabha, BJP had faced embarrassment when the Supreme Court earlier this year reinstated Congress leader Harish Rawat as Uttarakhand Chief Minister.
The defection of Congress stalwarts including former chief minister Vijay Bahuguna and distress for incumbent Chief Minister Harish Rawat is the biggest challenge before Congress party ahead of the poll.
Amit Shah also appointed Minister of Human Resources Development Prakash Javadekar a party in charge for the Manipur assembly elections. In Manipur, which also goes to polls early next year, Congress has been in power for the last 15 years and BJP is working towards putting up a strong fight. BJP is trying hard to make inroads in North eastern region after the spectacular victory in Assam.
