New Delhi, August 4: After the historical judgement of Delhi high court on Thursday, Delhi’ Governor Najeeb Jung said that the judgement is neither a victory nor defeat for anyone; but a matter of constitutional validity.

Lt. Governor Najeeb Jung for the first time held a press conference against the AAP Government where is spoke upon the judgement by the high court which held that the LG is the administrative head of the National Capital territory and the AAP government's contention that he is bound to act on the advice of council of ministers was without substance.

It is not a victory of anyone. It is not a win for Najeeb Jung and loss for Arvind Kejriwal. The court order is a kind of clarification that incorrect things will have to be corrected," he said.

He read out the oath he took when sworn in as Delhi L-G and said: "The Lt. Governor takes the oath to follow the Constitution of India. I followed it too." In a significant remark, Jung said his office would review all decisions and orders taken by the Delhi government in the last one-and-half years.

Jung said the verdict clarified that matters related to services will have to be handled by the LG and that the Centre's concurrence was not necessary on certain issues and he can take calls on them."I was appointed by the President (of India); I report to the central government. Why should I be ashamed of it? But we will have to confine ourselves within the constitutional framework," he said.
