Mumbai, September 29: Praising India’s stand to boycott upcoming SAARC summit in Islamabad, business tycoon and former Chairman of Tata group, Ratan Tata said “So proud of Indian government’s firm stand to boycott SAARC meeting & overwhelming support by member nations.”
He also appreciated the support of neighbour countries Bangladesh, Nepal, Afghanistan and Bhutan who also decided to skip the regional summit of SAARC nations due to cross-border terrorism in the region. Earlier, Pakistan termed the boycott decision as unfortunate.
Pakistan is involving in cross-border terrorism in the neighbour nations. India is worst affected by this which has resulted in about more 30 infiltrations, ceasefire violations, and also major terror attacks during this year.
In an official statement India’s Foreign Ministry conveyed to Nepal that “India remains steadfast in its commitment to regional cooperation, connectivity and contacts but believes that these can only go forward in an atmosphere free of terror. In the prevailing circumstances, the Government of India is unable to participate in the proposed Summit in Islamabad”.
Similarly Bangladesh, Nepal, Afghanistan and Bhutan also issued an official statement stating the same. Many celebrities and prominent personalities supported India’s stand on SAARC summit and such a comment of business tycoon Ratan Tata gives the confidence that India should block all parts of communication with Pakistan until and unless it stop supporting terrorists.
